Program Requirements
The following persons are eligible:
- A PERS member (eligible retiree) who is receiving a PERS retirement allowance or benefit or who received an optional lump sum payment.
- The spouse of an eligible retiree.
- A dependent child who is less than 19 years of age (or less than 24 years of age and a full time student). A child over 19 with a continuous incapacity who is incapable of self-support may also be eligible. Please call for additional information on dependent coverage.
- An eligible surviving spouse or dependent.
- Dependent Domestic Partner:
An eligible dependent domestic partner means a person who has a relationship with and resides with a PERS retiree, the PERS retiree is providing over one-half of the financial support for the person and have claimed that person on their most recent federal tax return. The Affidavit describes the dependent domestic partner requirements.
Please note: upon reaching age 65 or becoming medicare eligible due to disability, a retiree must be enrolled in Parts A and B of Medicare to be eligible for PERS-sponsored health coverage.
