PERS Health Insurance Program (PHIP) provides PERS retirees with benefits that are comprehensive, high quality and at the most cost effective rates possible that will also meet our retirees’ benefit needs. When planning your retirement, review all health coverage options available to you. PHIP contracts with 5 different health plan carriers, two dental carriers and UNUM for long term care coverage.

Dental Plans

PHIP offers two dental plans; Delta Dental of Oregon and Kaiser Permantente dental. You can enroll in either dental plan regardless of your medical plan selection. For Kaiser Permanente dental, you must reside in the Kaiser Permanente service area. PHIP does not offer standalone dental plans, therefore you must also be enrolled in PHIP medical coverage in order to receive dental coverage. Travel Benefits

Long Term Care

Long-term care is the type of care received either at home or in a facility when someone needs assistance with the activities of daily living. Health insurance does not pay for the cost of long-term care.

The PERS long-term care insurance carrier is Unum Life Insurance Company of America. Information on Unum enrollment and eligibility is available online. All eligible PERS retirees, spouses and dependents may apply for long-term care insurance by contacting Unum at 1-800-227-4165, or:
